We had dinner at the restaurant described as having the best food in Palma, set in a hotel that is a restored 16th C convent. The decor is minimalist and very tasteful and the chef is Marc Fosh - hence the name of the restaurant is Simply Fosh at Restaurant Refectori, Convent en Missoni
This is what we had to eat:
Saffron flavored Aoli with hot bread rolls
Chef's taster - Beetroot soup with a piece of marinated fish on a skewer
Greg entree - Pesto crusted salted cod with verjuice jelly and chilled almond soup
Di entree - Grilled squid with rocket, cherry tomatoes, baby new potatoes, thinly sliced chorizo and passionfruit oil
Greg main - Potato and Parmesan gnocchi with young spinach and wild mushrooms
Di main - Slow cooked guinea fowl with smoked rice, apricot puree and red wine shallots
All enjoyed with an excellent wine:
Sio red 2007 from Mallorca (mantonegro, shiraz, cab sav and merlot grapes)
Dessert: Vanilla Panna Cotta with Minestrone of fruits and grappa
All were delicious and certainly worth going to again. It was a great dining experience in an extremely interesting venue. If I hadn't read about it in Lonely Planet we would never have found it.
