Sep 18

Soon after lunch on Friday Sep 18 we drove to Soller and then north to Fornalutx, considered to be one of the prettiest villages on the island and it's easy to understand why. It's hard to tell where any newer buildings have been added to the village because they have used the same designs and superb stonework of the original buildings (all beautifully restored). Also the village is situated part of the way up one of the mountains of the west coast so the side streets are all stone steps and the village dwellers have many pots of plants outside their wooden doors and shuttered windows.

We then drove down to Port de Soller and wandered among the waterside cafes, marvelling at the number of small fishing boats, all painted white and in mint condition.

The route home was through Deia, but unfortunately La Residencia Hotel was closed to people who were not guests because a Spanish politician was staying there, which prevented us from sitting in the balcony cafe/bar sipping a late-afternoon drink.

Needing a reasonably early night we decided on pizzas or dinner from the outdoor restaurant across the road from the marina.
