Genoa
We walked around part of Genoa today although the crew needed to do a bit more organizing of sails and outside cleaning first and I picked up the laundry, all beautifully wrapped in soft paper. Genoa is a beautiful city which is only spoiled by freeways above the dock area. We followed the suggestions of a gourmet food guide I have and visited pasta shops (with the most amazing range of freshly made pastas we have ever seen, including types we didn't even know about - I had to buy some, wrapped in a box with pretty paper and tied with ribbon), pastry shops, wine stores and a huge food market with superb produce. So we stocked up and caught a taxi back to the boat. The crew took Greg and me for dinner at a superb restaurant set in a magnificent grand room - it has obviously been there for a long time and many famous people have eaten there, including the previous pope. It has many food awards but the waiters looked after us like we were family. It was a great end to the regatta for us.
