Finally in Genoa

We finally made it to Genoa at 5.00 am this morning and once we were tied up at the Yacht Club of Italy and had some breakfast at the club (focaccia of all types because it was first made in Genoa, pastries and coffee), we started the huge task of cleaning the boat inside and out, putting away sails, moving back everything from the van and setting the boat up again. I also found a taxi to take me to a laundry to deal with all the towels, sheets, etc. The majority of the crew went to their hotel about 4.00 pm and we (including Doug Shields and 3 other crew and our van driver who are staying on board until tomorrow) stopped cleaning at about 6.00 pm, well and truly ready for a few beers. The yacht club is a beautiful old 3 storey building and they also have a huge marquee at dockside beside the club house with chefs cooking foccaccia and pasta all day and into the night, plus other food such as breakfast pastries, platters of Reggiano Parmagiano and prosciutto at appropriate times of the day, plus serving coffee and a range of drinks. We have enjoyed all of that and also enjoyed our pizzas at a local cafe for dinner before we fell into bed to sleep.
