Madrid and Back in Mallorca 2015

Mallorca 2015

Palma de Mallorca, July 17, 2015

We are back on Dream Catcher III, our home in the Med. We arrived June 30, having spent a day in Dubai and three days at the Wellington Hotel in the Salamanca area of Madrid, on the way over. With daytime temperatures in the low 40s in Madrid we toured and walked in the mornings but were pleased to have chosen a hotel with a pool in the afternoons.

Our best find in Madrid was Quintin, a fabulous cafe/bar/restaurant/ specialty food store near the hotel, where we had a casual lunch at the bar one day and a more substantial dinner meal one night. We sat downstairs in an area designed like a family kitchen and one of the chefs made some of the cold entrees there. I love this type of place where people can drop in for a drink, perhaps with tapas, or have a coffee or have a range of meals. There are also some very chic shops in the Salamanca area, along tree-lined streets and in cul-de-sacs.

The first few weeks in Mallorca have been hot and sunny, with every day at least 30C (mostly 35C) and the nights are in the mid - high 20s, so it's even warmer than expected for this time of the year. It was great to catch up with David from our first day onward and then with Caty, Noa and Albert at their place for dinner one night. David has been busy with his paintings in the winter and the painting he did of Greg and Caty on Dream Catcher III is absolutely fabulous. A photo of the painting is below and a video showing the painting in progress and finished can be viewed at https://youtu.be/R-mnYSD4NBI
