Formentera to Mallorca

We are finally at Mallorca so we feel like we have really accomplished something. We have travelled about 2200 nautical miles and it is 84 days since we left Ipswich. It was a fabulous last day of great sailing from Formentera to here yesterday and so exciting to turn into the Bay of Palma and eventually see the grand cathedral in the distance overlooking the port. Dream Catcher III loved the strong wind as we left the cardinal mark south of Ibiza and headed for Mallorca. With the wind at 18-21 knots apparent we had slightly eased sails all the way until we were off the south west coast of Mallorca and Greg was in his element at the helm rather than letting the auto helm do the work.

We feel like we are home again at Marina Port de Mallorca, stern to the dock. Greg had to change the electrical plug again when we arrived and set up the passarelle for us to go ashore but then we toasted our achievement with a bottle of Tasmanian sparkling.

Greg was too tired to go anywhere for dinner but I just loved walking around some of my favourite parts of the old town last night to decide where to have tapas for dinner. I was with Michele and Ian so I enjoyed showing them around.  We had a quick walk around the Abaca Bar and of course they were stunned by the extraordinary decor with piles of fresh fruit, huge vases of flowers and interesting furniture at each level. We ate around the corner at Tucana (Calle Apuntadores, 14), selecting tuna carpaccio served with ginger, mussels in white wine, garlic prawns and little spicy meatballs which were all delicious and needed lots of lovely bread to soak up the various sauces. The jug of Sangria was a perfect accompaniment. Most restaurants were very busy, some have had renovations and a couple of new places have opened. Palma is looking quite prosperous.

We will go to the market this morning to see our 'friends' there and on the way we will go to our favourite breakfast place for crepes. This afternoon we will have to do some major boat cleaning!
