Córdoba

The morning was spent wandering around Córdoba, along the river and visiting several pleasant plazas, past the remains of a Roman temple and noticed everywhere there were little pots of flowering plants on walls and that the streets were not littered with rubbish. By 2.00 it was very hot so we spent the rest of the afternoon at the hotel pool, mostly in the water. By 9.30 pm the temperature had dropped a little so we found a tapas place for dinner, Tapas Pepe, having some gazpacho, superb croquettes, very lightly battered pieces of cod, a large slice of Spanish omelette (like a frittata, made mostly with eggs and slices of potatoes) and baby broad beans with ham. We then wandered some more, finding the Roman bridge spanning the river and the Moorish tower on the other side, the magnificent southern wall of the mosque and a public concert of Spanish singers.
