Cherbourg
We
arrived in Cherbourg about 11.00 am today, on the rising tide, and will head
for Guernsey about 6.00 am tomorrow morning. The guys did all of the hard work
for the trip from Le Havre as they did the very early start and then left
Glennis and me in bed because it was a horrible rolly trip with mixed seas.
After arriving in Cherbourg the guys spent most of the time at the yacht
chandlers (Greg says this is the same as me shopping for shoes) while Glen and
I wandered around town and enjoyed a coffee and pastry. It is rare to find a
coffee shop that also has the lovely French pastries so we bought a pastry at a
patisserie to take to the coffee shop. We did find a fantastic store that sold
a range of ultra modern chinaware and kitchen utensils by Guy Desgrenne and I
couldn't resist buying some bowls and plates for the boat. Dinner at the Yacht
Club, situated conveniently at the marina, was very good - excellent fresh
local oysters followed by veal cutlets grilled over a fire, served with good
pommes frittes.
