Cameret-Sur-Mer

Well we finally got some sunshine this afternoon as we passed by an interesting coastline with superb lighthouses on shore and in the water. The sea was very calm and when we arrived in Camaret about 3.00 pm we were even able to put on shorts and sit in the warmth in the cockpit! This town and the surrounding area looks very pretty from the marina but we didn't need to go walking to investigate tonight because we are going to stay for the day tomorrow. We are close to a red brick fort that was built in about 1680 to help the town defend attacks from Dutch invaders at that time. It is now a World Heritage site so it will be interesting to see tomorrow. Elizabeth and Peter walked ashore for our baguettes and we had pre-dinner drinks on our boat to discuss the plans for the next few days. We call this daily ritual our 'conference'. Fortunately the weather is going to stay calm so we will hop along the coast at least until we reach La Rochelle.
