February 22 Great Barrier Island - Auckland

The morning began peacefully, with Dream Catcher III at anchor in the cosy bay at Port FitzRoy, but Greg soon discovered that we had no battery power no power from the generator and the guys couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. The gas stove allowed us to prepare whatever we needed for breakfast, but with no power to pull up the anchor chain we had quite a task hauling it up with the help of a winch.

We had no choice but to head back to Auckland, 6 - 7 hours away, as we could not stay away another night without power for fridges, freezer, navigation, etc. It's a pity, as there are many sheltered and pretty bays all over Great Barrier and we had hope to stay a night at Waiheke Island on the way back to Auckland. We will have to do this when we return in March. Let's hope the weather will be perfect, like it is today.
