Another bright, sunny day at Formentera. We moved the boat a little closer to the shore in the morning, where the turquoise water was about 6 metres and it was very easy to see the sandy bottom. The dinghy was lowered into the water so we could go ashore for lunch at the Shark Bar, the 'in' place to be. Ginnie and I shared a platter of Spanish ham and cheese with crusty sliced baguettes and delicious aoli plus olives; Greg had a hamburger, but we could have chosen from a huge range of salads and cooked items. They had champagnes on the specials board that were as pricey as 850 euros per bottle for a Crystal Rose. We had a beer.
After a perfect afternoon spent swimming, reading and snoozing we took the dinghy ashore again to a spot slightly further north along the beach, to have dinner at Es Moli de Sal. The restaurant looks quite plain on the exterior but has a really interesting interior, with big windows of sliding glass that were all open. Their Gazpacho was excellent and we opted for a main course of "fish in the oven" after the waiter took Greg to show him the fresh groper they could bake for us. This was slightly different from the other night, being baked with slices of tomatoes, potatoes and onions plus white wine and bay leaves. Fabulous!
Lemon sorbet with vodka was a perfect finish (Ginnie was not game to have one in case she fell in the dinghy.) It was a beautiful night to motor back to our boat and have a good night's sleep.
