Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have been warm, but with cloud and strong winds - even too strong for pleasant sailing on Mon and Tues. So Monday we went driving to Valledemossa (always worth a visit for new people although our choice of cafe for lunch was bad because it took about 2 hours fro them to make us simple Mallorcan style open sandwiches!) and down the stunning western coast, with dinner on board that night.
Tuesday was market shopping before Luke and Bron spent most of the day exploring old town Palma and the shops, a great tapas meal at La Bovida (the braised red peppers stuffed with minced pork and veal in a tomato based sauce were excellent as a new dish for us to try) and then a violin and piano concert at 10.00 pm at Bellver Castle. The performers were outstanding and of course the setting is magnificent, but some of the pieces they played by more modern composers such as Bartok were "ugly". We were much happier listening when they played Bach and Brahms.
Wednesday, after a great sleep-in and another little market shopping we decided it would be suitable for a sail. Bron bought some freshly made ravioli type of pasta for dinner, taking a punt that we would like the filling as she didn't know the meaning of the Spanish label. Thankfully I looked in the dictionary to discover the filling was snails so we quickly changed to pasta with artichoke filling.
Our sailing was very pleasant but there was too much swell to stay on anchor for the night. Back in port for the night Bron and Luke prepared a delicious dinner - ravioli (with artichoke filling) with a sauce of cream, pine nuts, lemon rind, garlic, chopped basil and lemon juice plus salad of baby cos lettuce, rocket, sliced and grilled yellow peaches, chopped almonds and dressing. As we had pre-dinner drinks and nibbles until 9.30 we were too full to eat dessert - besides it was nearly midnight so we were all ready for bed. We just don't seem to be able to have an early night.
