July 17 - 19

Friday 18th was again very warm so we motored across to Palma Nova to drop anchor for a day of swimming and relaxing. It was almost dark by the time we returned to the dock so on the way back I roasted in the oven two baby legs of lamb (with some sprigs of rosemary on top) and potatoes. I only had to cook the beans when we docked and dinner was ready.

Saturday was a little cooler, just in the low 20's - a perfect day for driving. We visited Valldemossa, where we had lunch at Aromas cafe with its quiet, leafy courtyard and then drove along the stunning coastline to Deija, where we had afternoon tea/ coffee on the luxurious balcony of La Residencia Hotel, overlooking the picture-postcard gardens.

We continued up the coast to Soller and returned to Palma only to change to go out for an excellent dinner at Due restaurant at Porto Portals. It is such a buzz there with oodles of very large motor boats (some like mini ships), the glitzy shops open all night and all of the waterfront restaurants overflowing with people dressed up to the nines. The warm balmy night greatly adds to the enjoyment.

Sunday was another day for sailing (a great sail with perfect winds) and swimming, firstly at Porto Vells until the breeze picked up and caused a bit of a swell coming into the cove, and then at Palma Nova, where we stayed at anchor overnight, having a barbecue of steak and yummy little pork sausages with salad.

I love waking at anchor here because the mornings are calm and warm - just right for breakfast in the cockpit. Monday was no exception. We had a lazy day of reading, swimming and snoozing before returning to the marina late afternoon. An easy dinner from the nearby Grillmeister allowed us to have an early night.
