We motored out of Rada di Portoferraio on Sunday morning at 8.00 am with the harbor like a sheet of glass. We travelled along the northern coast of Isola di Elba, breakfasting en route and taking many photos of the changing scenery - small sandy beaches, rolling green hillsides, valleys with coves at the waterline, a few small towns (most of which were visited on our Saturday drive) and the harbor of Marina a Marciana with its 11 th C tower. We hope to visit Elba again one day.
The 5 hour trip to Cosica was uneventful, with just a couple of yachts passing in the other direction.
Our arrival at Port Toga, Bastia, on the north east coast of Corsica was very pleasant as we were welcomed by a delightful gentleman in a little boat with a sun roof. He was waiting to show us to our mooring after I had telephoned about our expected arrival, speaking in "rusty" French as the marina staff did not speak any English.
The remainder of Sunday afternoon was spent having lunch, hosing down and drying the boat and reading lots about what we could do for the next 5 weeks in Corsica.
We have done a great deal since then, which will be reported on tomorrow!
